This example is fully framed, a feature that's particularly difficult to find in this condition. One of the few overtly patriotic vignettes on Confederate currency, this $2 note—designed by Blanton Duncan—depicts the South striking down the North and its eagle. The note features a smaller format to conserve paper and includes a large green and white "2-TWO" protector, which Duncan added on his own without prior authorization. When the CSA Treasury was billed for the added cost, it refused to pay, prompting Duncan to stop including the protector—accounting for this variety’s relative scarcity compared to the version without it.
