Gold certificates were redesigned and reduced in size in 1928. Their design resembled the one used on the current U.S. $10 notes. The reverse of the note was predominantly green, though gold elements were still present. The obverse displayed a seal and serial numbers alongside a portrait of Alexander Hamilton, who remains on today's $10 bills. The reverse featured an image of the U.S. Treasury Building.
