This impressive note ranks #49 in 100 Greatest American Currency Notes, compiled by Bowers and Sundman. Not only is Fr. 1216a rare, but it is even more difficult to find in problem-free condition, with no comments. The note featuring the portrait of Abraham Lincoln at left, with the signatures of Treasury officials Parker and Burke positioned below, flanking the red scalloped Treasury Seal. The golden-orange printed back showcases a striking image of a bald eagle in flight, grasping the American flag in its talons.
